WHY PACKARD?

When picking the name for the main character in my book, I wanted a name that had a connection to Columbus. I chose Packard to honor Frank L. Packard, a renowned architect who was born in Delaware, Ohio, in 1866. During his prolific career, which spanned thirty-seven years, he designed over 3,400 buildings, including over 100 business and residential buildings in Columbus.

Some of his most notable Columbus designs include the Seneca Hotel (now luxury apartments), Memorial Hall (former location of COSI), the former Broad Street Governor’s Mansion (currently the Columbus Foundation), the Sells “circus house” in Victorian Village and several buildings on The Ohio State University campus, such as Hayes Hall.
